Rule of Law and Culture of Integrity

The Rule of Law and Culture of Integrity program aims to support Higher Education Institutions such as the National Universities and training centers linked to the justice system, for the development of the rule of law and the consolidation of a culture of legality in Paraguay, based on education.

The program is implemented by the Development Institute (ID), with technical and financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

Training centers from Justice institutes, such as:

The International Center for Judicial Studies (CIEJ), dependent on the Supreme Court of Justice.

The Public Ministry Training Center (CEMP)

The Higher Technical Institute of Public Defense (ITSDP) dependent on the Ministry of Public Defense.

The Judicial School, dependent on the Council of the Magistracy.

Higher Education Institutions, such as:

The Faculty of Law of the National University of Asunción (UNA)

The National University of the East (UNE)

The National University of Canindeyú (UNICAN)

The National University of Concepción (UNC)

Components

Support for the strengthening of the higher education institutions and training centers, based on teacher development and curricular mesh
Promotion of research on the rule of law and anti-corruption reforms.
Training for best institutional practices and quality legal services.

Expected results

At the end of this Program, it is expected that the mentioned justice-related institutions will be strengthened to address the gaps in the rule of law and that their graduates will contribute to create anticorruption reforms and boost democracy through a high level academic education.
