Strengthening civil society organizations (CSO)

We seek to strengthen the participation of Civil Society in the formulation of local public policies in Paraguay.

The Development Institute carried out actions to strengthen CSOs, including:

  • An inventory of the main CSOs in the AMA municipalities
  • The implementation of a training-action program for leaders and potential leaders of the AMA CSOs.

As for the Municipal Development Councils (CDM) in the AMA, the ID managed to strengthen them as spaces for the materialization of the co-production of public policies between CSOs and government agencies, through training-action courses.

Objectives

  • Sensitization to CSOs: At the beginning of the project, an inventory of CSOs present in each municipality of the AMA will be carried out. They will be invited to participate in training modules and in-depth meetings between CSOs. Through the members of the CSOs that make up the CDM, those who are not part of these municipal bodies will be reached.
  • Implement a Training-Action Program: Online courses for all CSO and CDM members.

Development Councils and Civil Society Organizations of four districts of the Metropolitan Area: Ñemby, San Lorenzo, Villa Elisa and Lambaré.

  1. Civil Society and the local government are prepared to work together in the formulation of public policies.
  2. Members of Development and Civil Society Councils trained to elaborate and implement public policies.
  3. Democratic norms are strengthened and citizen participation increases.

We generate other relevant information, such as the team of researchers and their emails.
