Project
PROMOTION OF THE CREATIVE ECONOMY IN PARAGUAY
Despite Paraguay’s good economic performance in recent years, the need for innovation in the production system remains a development imperative. According to the 2016-2017 Global Competitiveness Index of the World Economic Forum, Paraguay is one of the Latin American and Caribbean countries with the lowest results in innovation, occupying position number 132 out of 138 in the world ranking. The low performance in terms of technology is explained not only because the investments are channeled into non-knowledge-intensive industries, but also because the different industries are far from their reactive technological frontiers.
In this context, the promotion of the Creative Economy is extremely attractive. International experience shows the potential of these industries in improving the innovation capacity of the economy as a whole.
